Biographical Record
Nodar Dumbadze was a celebrated Georgian author whose warm humor, touching humanism, and tragicomic storytelling endeared him to millions of readers across Caucasia and Eastern Europe.
Drawing upon his childhood in the Guria region following his parents' arrest during the 1937 purges, Dumbadze wrote classic semi-autobiographical novels including 'Me, Grandma, Iliko and Ilarion' and 'I Can See the Sun'.
His works captured the resilience, warmth, and enduring laughter of simple village folk in the face of wartime hardship and ideological cruelty.
