Master Georgian painter and muralist who blended traditional Caucasian fresco art with Parisian modernism.
Biographical Record
Lado Gudiashvili was one of Georgia's greatest 20th-century painters, graphic artists, and scenographers, celebrated for his vibrant color palette and mythological compositions.
Studying in Paris in the 1920s alongside Modigliani, Picasso, and Aragon, Gudiashvili returned to Georgia to synthesize Western modernist techniques with medieval Georgian church fresco traditions and Persian miniatures.
Despite censorship under Soviet ideological campaigns, he completed monumental frescoes for the Kashveti Church in Tbilisi in 1946, leaving an indelible artistic imprint on Georgian national culture.
