Biographical Record

Dame Hilda Louisa Bynoe (née Gibbs) was a pioneering Grenadian medical doctor and public servant who made Commonwealth history as the first woman to be appointed Governor of a British-associated state.

Graduating in medicine from the London School of Medicine for Women and the Royal Free Hospital, Dr. Bynoe practiced community medicine across Trinidad and Grenada, focusing on maternal and pediatric care.
