Biographical Record
Guillaume Oyônô Mbia was born on March 2, 1939, in the forest village of Mvoutessi. While still a secondary student at the Collège Évangélique de Libamba, Oyônô Mbia wrote Trois Prétendants... un mari in 1960, capturing the hilarious generational clash between traditional bride-price greed and modern youth love.
Studying modern languages at Keele University in England, Oyônô Mbia served as Professor of English Literature at the University of Yaoundé.
