Biographical Record

Appointed head of psychiatry at the Blida-Joinville psychiatric hospital in Algeria in 1953, Fanon witnessed firsthand the psychological trauma inflicted by colonial subjugation. He resigned to join the National Liberation Front (FLN), serving as a diplomat, educator, and fearless writer.

Before his untimely death from leukemia at age 36, he dictated his masterpiece The Wretched of the Earth, which remains an essential cornerstone of post-colonial theory and human freedom.
