Biographical Record
Emmanuel Tettey Mensah, universally acclaimed as the 'King of Highlife', was a revolutionary Ghanaian trumpeter, saxophonist, and bandleader who defined modern West African popular music.
Forming The Tempos band in the 1940s, Mensah fused traditional Akan dance rhythms, calypso, and jazz swing into an electrifying, urbane dance music that swept across Ghana, Nigeria, and the entire continent.
His legendary recordings, including 'All for You', 'Ghana Freedom', and 'Tea Samba', provided the celebratory soundtrack to West African independence and earned him global recognition as a musical icon.
