Biographical Record

Dr. Ebenezer Ako-Adjei was a pivotal Ghanaian nationalist leader, journalist, and diplomat who was instrumental in the organization of the Ghanaian independence movement.

While studying at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania alongside Kwame Nkrumah, Ako-Adjei formed deep Pan-African connections. Upon returning to the Gold Coast, he was invited to join the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) leadership as one of 'The Big Six' and famously recommended hiring Nkrumah as full-time general secretary.
