Biographical Record
David Kakabadze was an avant-garde painter, set designer, and art theorist who bridged Georgian landscape aesthetics with radical European abstract modernism.
Active in Paris from 1919 to 1927, Kakabadze exhibited with the Société Anonyme alongside Marcel Duchamp and Wassily Kandinsky, developing groundbreaking relief constructions and kinetic optical devices.
His stylized, rhythmically patterned paintings of the Imereti countryside transformed Georgian landscape art into a universal modernist visual language.
